Welcome to my website featuring my experiences as I learn to fly light planes at Redcliffe Aero Club in Brisbane, Australia!!
The first time I ever flew in a plane was my 13th birthday, which was Sunday 2nd December 1979. Twenty-seven years later to the day, I had my first flying lesson on my 40th birthday. My goal was to gain my Private Pilot's Licence, and with that goal met in July, 2007, I'm moving onwards and upwards to my Commercial Pilot's Licence (CPL) . My first job in Aviation!!!!
WOW, I finally have my first pilot position!! From the trip to Darwin, I found that the industry is a bit flat, and none of the operators up there are hiring. So as chance would have it I heard that Sunshine Coast Skydivers were looking for a pilot, so I applied and got the spot flying their C206 TURBO VH-TIB!! I'll write more on this soon!!!
Thanks to all the experienced pilots who have shared their experiences and advice with me. The key advice that everyone agrees with is that the only way to get a job as a pilot is to hit the road and visit as many employers as possible.
So... on May 30th I am going to head up to Darwin and begin my search. Planned with military precision (not really but lots of excitement!) and armed with my resume, and my flight bag and headset (because you never really know what might come your way) I will visit every operator I can find in Darwin and then head out to Katherine and Jabiru as well.
